Unveiling an Unique Steam Demo: Guiding a Turdy Character with the Goal to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and gamers have found a variety of engaging independent titles. However, one stands out for its offbeat concept. Called Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure includes a character that is actually a piece of poop attempting to make its way to a toilet. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

Player controls is simple: you only need a jump control. Across 150 stages, you'll face mini-bosses and visit a store to buy customizations for your dung hero.

Plan your movements precisely, as a wrong move means starting over. Jump using floating orbs to launch your character higher, navigate disappearing surfaces, and interact with switches to reveal new areas. Collect UN-KOINS and use them on tougher game content in which the action gets crazy.

Graphically, the experience boasts eye-catching environments and a killer music score. Its minimalist visual style with morphing geometric shapes evokes memories of gamers of classic titles like Earthbound.

Although hard to think of previous releases where you are a coiled turd, interactive entertainment often incorporated toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can make grenades from character excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize manure as plant food. And of course, this theme appears extensively in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its humorous concept, Unko Technica has already received impressive awards, like taking top honors at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. A playable preview is accessible currently on Steam, with the final release scheduled to debut on computers on November 19.
