The UK airline is introducing no-cost fast onboard connectivity through satellite deal

Travelers flying with British Airways can soon use high-speed connectivity in the air without charge due to a new partnership with SpaceX's communications company.

No-cost and Fast Wifi Across the Board

British Airways announced that the no-cost, “reliable and lightning-fast” connectivity offering through SpaceX will be available for travelers flying coach, business, and first class from next month.

Expanded Implementation Over Several Carriers

The holding organization for British Airways, IAG, confirmed it had finalized an agreement involving SpaceX to provide connectivity access across more than 500 planes across their airlines, which also include the Irish airline, the Spanish carrier, and Vueling.

Seamless Connectivity starting at Boarding through Arrival

British Airways noted that this implementation of the system was part of a seven billion pound “upgrade” initiative that will provide uninterrupted internet service for flyers starting at boarding through arrival, even when in flight above large bodies of water or isolated areas.

Customers will be able to hook up multiple electronics while they will not need a unique access code.

“Gamechanging for British Airways and travelers, elevating the journey in the air on BA by offering them continuous connectivity throughout the flight.”

Present Internet Offerings

Basic wifi access remains available to BA passengers across most of their jets via their .air service.

Enrollees in the airline's reward scheme may send texts and plain-text messages in the air free of charge, while passengers looking to access audio, movies, or films on their travel and are not flying in first class can expect to be charged between four pounds ninety-nine to £21.99 for one wifi bundle.

Starlink’s System

The provider uses a network of thousands of satellites and it's managed by Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

Recent Developments for BA

BA's executive team has been striving to turn the airline again following a long time with cost cutting, technology issues, strikes, and staff cuts.

The airline noted that implementation with smart technology has assisted it to bring its timeliness to record highs from over a decade ago.

Profit Results

Earlier this year, British Airways announced a rise in earnings for the first six months recently, helping to push its owner earnings to grow.

IAG is due to report its earnings for the quarter recently shortly.

Recent SpaceX Agreements

British Airways’ update arrives days after telecom operator the telecom firm said it was partnering with the satellite provider to improve mobile network service across remote areas in Britain, enabling customers to easily connect mobile devices using satellites if there is no regular network coverage exists.
