This January transfer window is always a period of feverish rumour and possible big-money deals. A number of notable stars are being connected to moves out of their present clubs. Here is a look at a selection of the key names who might be on the move this month.

A. Semenyo

Despite Ghana's failure to reach the AFCON, this has left the forward in contention, it appears a significant transfer is imminent. This Bournemouth attacker has a contract with a substantial buy-out clause applicable for a brief window in early January. Recent developments indicate the Premier League champions have emerged as his signature. Former suitors like Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have moved on to alternative targets, leaving clubs such as Manchester United or Liverpool to make a late bid.

M. Guéhi

This English defender has continued to excel for Palace this season a previous move to Anfield collapsing. As his deal due to expire in the summer, this represents the London club's final opportunity to secure a transfer fee for their captain. Numerous top sides, such as City and multiple continental powerhouses including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, reportedly hold an interest. Yet, a January departure is considered difficult, particularly given the manager's reliance on the player.

Brennan Johnson

This Welsh winger has found first-team minutes hard to come by at Spurs this term. Despite finishing as the side's leading goalscorer the previous campaign, Johnson has begun only a handful of Premier League matches. It is understood the North London outfit is open to a transfer for the correct price, believed to be in the region of forty million pounds. The Cherries appear to be at the front of the queue, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an inquiry.

Tottenham value the Welsh international at around forty million pounds.

Rúben Neves

The Portugal playmaker could be set for a return to the Premier League after a spell in Saudi Arabia. Now just 28, and with his contract ending in the summer, he is a potential opportunity. Clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool are connected to the former Wolves man. Furthermore, there are rumours from Spanish media that he is willing to take a reduced salary for a switch to Real Madrid.

M. ter Stegen

The veteran German shot-stopper finds himself as third-choice at Barça under the manager Flick. Having fallen out of favour and undergone surgery, a winter exit seems highly likely. Villa were once linked as a possible suitor, but that option now appears off. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly expressing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

The prolific English striker has continued scoring frequently in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League might boost his fading chances of making the England World Cup. But, securing a transfer presents major challenges. His current club are reluctant to part with him, and his alleged huge salary make any move complicated. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United have all been linked as interested parties.

The striker was instrumental as Al-Ahli to a win in the domestic cup showpiece.

C. Gallagher

This energetic midfielder attracted widespread attention in the off-season but remained at Atlético. K. Yildiz

This highly-rated Turkish forward has been in excellent form for the Italian giants this term. With his existing contract running down, many Premier League clubs – including Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are keeping tabs on the situation. Juventus are desperate to secure the youngster to a lengthy contract but are in a battle to keep one of Europe's brightest prospects.

K. Smit

This highly-touted Dutch midfielder has drawn comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. After starring at the U19 Euros, he has become a regular in the AZ first team. The 19-year-old is widely tipped to complete a big-money move this month. Newcastle United reportedly are frontrunners, but are facing strong competition from the Spanish champions for a signing priced at approximately £22 million.
